Chahat Chawla

Chahat Chawla is Associate Counsel at Singapore International Arbitration Centre.


Chahat earned his Bachelor of Laws, BA., LL.B. (Hons.) degree securing a First Class result from School of Law, Christ University, Bangalore. He also holds a Master’s Degree in International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution from the National University of Singapore. During law school, Chahat was the Convenor of the Journals and Publication Society and the Co-Convenor of the Moot Court Society. He also participated in moot court competitions and has won individual and team awards. Prior to joining SIAC, he was a Senior Associate at one of India’s top-tier law firms and has assisted leading Senior Advocates in various arbitrations and litigations.


Chahat is qualified to practice law in India and is fluent in English and Hindi.

International Arbitration During COVID-19: A Case Counsel’s Perspective (06/16/20)
The first quarter of 2020 has been an active period for the SIAC Secretariat. It is common practice for SIAC tribunals to conduct the preliminary case management conference telephonically or virtually. However, given the dramatic change in the arbitration landscape in the past few months, SIAC tribunals have successfully conducted a variety of hearings remotely, including applications for emergency interim relief and evidentiary hearings.
