Ms. McVicker is a native Californian and is a family lawyer. From 1993 – 2012, her work was centered in her native hometown of Los Angeles where she litigated and settled thousands of high conflict family law matters. From 2003 – 2006, she had the prestigious honor to serve as a Temporary Judge for the Los Angeles Superior Court Family Law Department. From 2001 – 2006, she served as a Family Law Settlement Officer for the Los Angeles Superior Court ADR Office.

Since 2003, Ms. McVicker has been a Certified Family Law Specialist by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization, a distinction held by a small number of lawyers in California. She has also written several articles on family law topics.

In 2013, Ms. McVicker moved to Riverside County and opened McVicker’s Family Law Mediation Center, PLC, where she conducts private family law mediations. In 2021, Ms. McVicker obtained a Master of Laws in Dispute Resolution from Pepperdine University, Caruso School of Law, Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution ranked #1 in the U.S. News & World Report 2023 Best Dispute Resolution Programs.

Ms. McVicker has been a licensed California attorney since 1993. She has devoted her entire career to family law. In addition to settling the majority of her litigated cases, from 2001 - 2006, she served as a Family Law Settlement Officer for the Los Angeles Superior Court ADR Office. She has been in private mediation since 2004. In 2013, she founded McVicker's Family Law Mediation Center, Professional Law Corporation where she dedicates 100% of her time to family law cases.

Approach

Given Ms. McVicker's vast knowledge of family law, she is able to combine both a faciliative and collaborative approach to mediation which focuses on allowing clients to be decision makers to resolve their problems. The mediation process is used to faciliate open discussion, diffuse conflict, encourage options and search for a satisfactory resolution for both sides.

Fees

Ms. McVicker's hourly rate is $400/hour. She does not offer flat rates. There is a 2 hour minimum mediation fee of $800/hour, although parties may reserve up to 8 hours for any given day in advance. After a successful mediation, Ms. McVicker requests a retainer fee for preparation of stipulated agreements and court forms.

In addition, Ms. McVicker offers individual and confidential pre-mediation consultations that are often scheduled a few days before the formal mediation appointment. A private confidential consultation will enable a party and their attorneys to offer information, ask questions and discuss particular matters of importance. Ms. McVicker will listen to all concerns.
