Description of Practice

Disagreements are natural. Sometimes people find themselves stuck in the situation and need help talking with each other. Mediation allows participants to discuss issues in a private setting and reclaim their decision-making ability. Sherry Bruckner helps people engage in civil and constructive conversations in civil and family matters, ranging from consumer, housing, and personal injury to divorce, custody/parenting time, and family estate issues.

Sherry approaches mediation with curiosity and compassion, recognizing the importance of understanding individual needs. Besides facilitating constructive conversations between folks in conflict, Sherry teaches conflict resolution and peace building skills to businesses, organizations and individuals, and provides individual peace and conflict coaching. You may learn more in her free online monthly peace building class.

Sherry completed civil and advanced mediation training through Hamline University’s Dispute Resolution Institute in 1997, and certified family law mediation training in 1998. She earned her law degree from William Mitchell College of Law in 1999, and maintains a license to practice law in the State of Minnesota and U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota. She practiced civil and family law for nearly twenty years. A qualified neutral on the Minnesota Supreme Court's Rule 114 roster, Sherry also serves as adjunct faculty at Mitchell Hamline School of Law.

She actively participates in Mediators Beyond Borders, Rotary International, and enjoys hiking, kayaking, and laughter.

Professional Background

Sherry earned a Bachelor of Arts from Hamline University and a Juris Doctor from William Mitchell College of Law, and serves on the Minnesota Supreme Rule 114 List of Qualified Neutrals. Sherry has served as an adjunct law professor, a diversity and inclusion trainer and studied conflict resolution at Hebrew University's Rothberg International School in Jerusalem.

Experience

Sherry began as a volunteer mediator with the Dispute Resolution Center in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1998.
