Description of Practice

Are you and the other party representing yourselves? Are you looking for a resolution with lower financial impact than full-blown litigation? Our office assists self-represented or pro se parties with the resolution of unlitigated and litigated family law issues through mediation. Our mediation includes dissolution/divorce, child custody/parenting plans, child support orders, spousal maintenance, spousal alimony and the division of property. In addition, I mediate post divorce issues, including the adjustment or modification of child support orders or of parenting plans. We provide neutral services to self-represented or pro se parties willing to address contested matters outside the courtroom and within the context of your unique family circumstances.

Professional Background

Four years after joining the Everett firm of O’Loane, Nunn, Guthrie and O’Loane, Michele became a partner and shareholder. In May 2007 Michele founded her own boutique matrimonial and family law firm and offers mediation for self-represented or pro se parties for the community.

Bachelor of Arts, Interdisciplinary Studies, Fairhaven College at Western Washington University. Juris Doctor, Seattle University School of Law.

I approach mediation with self-represented or pro se litigation in a client-led, mediator-guided fashion. I firmly believe that educated consumers of legal services are prepared to reach agreements that are durable in nature while also being financially accessible.

Given the unique COVID-19 pandemic financial situations facing my clients, I have reduced my hourly rate to $220.00 per hour to mediate issues for self-represented clients. Hospital Health Care Workers: Thank you for your invaluable sacrifice to our community. In response, I am reducing my hourly rate for you to $175.00 per hour if you and the other party are representing yourselves.

Other Information

We have entered financially and physically challenging territory that has upended the traditional realities of litigation. Courts have severely limited family law access to the courts to protect health of the public and the court employees. Access to the initial $3,500.00 and $5,000.00 attorney fee deposits is out of the general public's reach. Years of intense family law courtroom experience have taught me that the best outcome for your family most likely will not be delivered from the court system. In addition, parties to a family law case are often aware that the process and cost can easily spin out of their control. My focus as mediator to self-represented parties is to guide people to a durable and family-centered solution, mindful of the "other" expense of litigation.
