Approach
Every dispute or conflict is a unique interplay of people, personalities, perspectives & relationships. The unique facts and issues, procedural context, legal principles, needs, values and cultures are integral considerations in the search for workable, reasonable, efficient and creative solutions. I strive to design, customize and adapt a mediation process to fit the personalities, circumstances and needs of the parties. In many cases, a facilitative, creative, option generating, problem solving approach works to encourage solutions and resolutions selected and determined by the parties. Where continuing relationship considerations are strong and parties are able to communicate well, then strategies from the transformative school of mediation may be useful. Where the parties have selected me in part because of my particular experience, expertise and background and they want my personal assessment or evaluation of the matter, I am willing and able to provide such evaluation, provided I have sufficient understanding of the pertinent specific facts, circumstances, issues & principles involved.
Fees
$250-$350/hr. plus state tax. No travel time or travel costs are charged for mediation services anywhere in the State of Hawaii; customized fee arrangements, half day or full day rates are negotiable.
If travel is required to other States of the Union, the Pacific or Asia, travel charges will include coach air travel, lodging, transportation and meals. I generally do not charge for travel time.
