Mediator with focus on family law issues related to divorce, custody and child support. Former thirty year general business attorney and accounting executive with focus on HR/administrative/benefits support, document creation and review, contract preparation, civil litigation and oversight of financial accounting system.
Over 25 mediations (in excess of 100 hours) with focus primarily on family law issues including divorce, property division, custody and child support.

Begin with a discussion of the current (and desired future) situation amongst the parties regarding any minor children along with dissemination of what the parties can offer to fulfill the needs of the children in a cohesive and complimentary manner. Items to gather and bring are earnings statements, child calendars, list of extra curricular activities, school requirements (uniforms, sports clothing, etc), family electronic communication tools, temporary orders, if modification, any prior orders or decrees. Parties must present documentation to substantiate the following if relevant; Detailed list of property items (assets and debts) for division.
Free initial one hour pre-mediation consultation,1/2 hour per party and/or their attorney to discuss parameters of the dispute. Consultation can be via phone (email documents) or in person with reasonable lead time. $350 for up to 4 hour half day; $700 for up to 8 hour full day. Lunch is not provided. Time is continuous. Fees are required to be paid up front prior to beginning mediation. Fees are non-refundable once mediation begins unless only a half day is used and a full day is initially paid. Must schedule either full day or half day. If half day is not sufficient then collection of additional fee will be required prior to continuing to full day.
If a joint opening statement (parties and attorneys in the same room initially) is possible the rules of mediation can be explained once to all parties to save time. If not feasible the parties can begin in separate rooms or “in caucus” with the attorneys each providing a short verbal or written opening statement, separate from the parties, summarizing the disputed items to be discussed and to confirm receipt of the documents necessary to the subject matter and summarize any current or latest offers of settlement.
