Description of Practice
His training and professional skills have helped clients negotiate workable agreements during mediation that are both practical and creative. A mediator's most valuable role lies in getting parties to generate workable options that make for fair and lasting agreements.
His use of straight forward language reflects nine years of classroom instruction at two GTA community colleges, 42 years of group workshop presentations, and writing about mediation and arbitration. He uses 'expedited mediation' to keep the process brief and to the point. This approach minimizes time spent and client costs.
In 2000 and 2001 he obtained Certificates in Introductory and Advanced Negotiation and Mediation from the University of Windsor, Ontario. In 2003, Jack Zwicker obtained a Masters degree in Law in Alternative Dispute Resolution, LL.M (ADR) from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, Toronto.
In 2013, Jack Zwicker was appointed a Deputy Judge of the Ontario Small Claims Court whose procedures require a mix of mediation and decision making.
In 2018 Jack Zwicker was certified by the ADR Institute of Canada [Ontario] as a Qualified Arbitrator and in 2019 he was designated by it as a Chartered Arbitrator.
He has mediated disputes involving, consumer and business contracts, property law, and estate disputes and wrongful dismissal claims.
He has also acted as an arbitrator and uses 'expedited arbitration' to reduce the time and cost of arbitration. Jack Zwicker has mediated and arbitrated several hundred such disputes.
