Description of Practice

This Mediator is Certified
Denisa can help you work out smart, respectful, and fair divorce.

“Besides being professional and fair, we are walking away from this feeling that the settlement was equitable. Most important, and I was adamant about this from the start, is that we are not adversaries and can still talk to each other. So many people end their marriage hating each other leaving friends, family, and children paying the price.” -Gary and Linda, CO

Divorce does not have to be the end of the world. I highly recommend staying amicable and gentle with one another. There are many roads to be traveled. Choose your way wisely. Thank you Denisa Tova for your guidance, support and tender love through this.” - Constance and Jeff, Denver, CO

US Magistrate Judge, Denver, CO: “Dear Ms. Tova: As a former district court judge in the State of Colorado and as a trial court judge for over 21 years, I want to extend my personal thanks to you for assisting citizens of Colorado with dividing their finances rationally during their divorce. As a former state district court judge, I handled thousands of divorces and would have loved to have the types of services that you offer in divorce cases that I presided over.”

Professional Background

20 years ago I launched a financial planning career as a Certified Financial Planner. I saw an alarming pattern. Divorce left people in financial ruin for many years that often resulted from mounting legal fees and divorce agreements that did not take the future of either party into account, which lead me to expand my services as a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst and Mediator. I’ve helped hundreds of divorcing couples reach a settlement saving tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees. Divorcing couples need financial information and education to help them look beyond their divorce and consider how the settlement will impact them in the long term. Serving as both a Divorce Financial Analyst and Mediator gives me a unique set of tools to help couples take an intellectual approach to their divorce. I mediated a divorce where one spouse had a private equity interest and the other was a home-maker. In other mediation, the couple dealt with a less complex financial construct, but it was complicated by the fact that one spouse brought into the marriage substantial assets some of which became comingled. I was able to help interpret financials and tax returns to help establish true income available for support, value the marital portion of the future pension in today’s dollars, and explain the tax impact of trading retirement assets for real estate properties. For couples with children, crafting a child centered parenting plan is a lynch pin of our mediated sessions. The goal is to cause the least amount of disruption for the children and lessen the trauma of divorce.

Experience

I've mediated close to 2000 cases in the Colorado area.
