Professional Background

Ms. Smith received arbitration and mediation training through the American Arbitration Association in 1989. She obtained additional 32 hours of Basic Training in 1994 and Advanced Divorce Mediation in 1997. She attends trainings in mediation and collaborative law and in other law related areas to maintain her skills.


Ms. Smith has mediated matters since 1989. She was a Director on the Board of Directors for Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation, Inc. from June 2002 to June 2010. While a Director for Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation, Inc., Ms. Smith was the Treasurer from June 2004 to June 2005 and the Program Chair from May 2005 to June 2006. Ms. Smith received her bachelor of science degree from Boston University in 1975 and her juris doctor degree from New England School of Law in Boston in 1982. She has been admitted to practice law in Massachusetts since 1983 and Colorado since 1992.


Ms. Smith believes that it is better for her clients to have control over the outcome of a dispute and to resolve matters amicably.


Her charge of $350.00 per hour for mediating a matter, which is generally split equally between the parties.

Her charge for representing a client in a collaborative law matter is $350.00 per hour.
