Description of Practice
Ann Cerney provides alternative dispute resolution services including - parenting mediation - including pre and post decree, design of parenting agreement which is respectful of childrens' needs and best interests, offers parenting coordination services for high conflict parents, pre and post divorce. Ann can help parties come to resolution about issues related to parenting, using her background in counseling and psychology and divorce coaching (since 2006).
Ann has a Masters in Clinical Psychology, and is licensed by the state of Illinois as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). Ann has served as co-chair on the Excellence & Best Practices Committee of Collaborative Law Institute of Illinois from 2010-2011. She continues to be a member of Collaborative Practice Professionals of Illinois.
Ann formally joined CLII (Collaborative Law Institute of IL) in 2008, and has been practicing collaborative law as a divorce coach and child specialist on 50+ cases since 2006. Ann also helped develop an independent training team called TACP - Trainers for the Advancement of Collaborative Practice - which provided training to lawyers, financial professionals, and licensed mental health professionals in Illinois from 2010 to 2014.
Ann has a Master's in Science (MS) of Clinical Psychology from Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois. She graduated with her MS in 2001. Ann has also attended many post-graduate training courses in alternative dispute resolution such as collaborate law training, mediation training, parenting coordination training, and ongoing continuing education training to maintain her licensure and certification in mediation and parenting coordination. Ann is also a trainer in Collaborative Divorce.
Ann's approach to dispute resolution incorporates her knowledge and experience of emotional and mental health, including addictions, motivational interviewing, and her experience of family dynamics, child development, and crisis intervention, to help families to achieve sustainable solutions that incorporate strategies for mitigating harm to children and building on parental strengths.
Ann's fees are commensurate with her experience, and are much less than an attorney's fees or a financial professional's fees. Ann believes in offering as much value as possible for people undergoing a stressful event, such as divorce.
Ann has experience with the health care industry, and is able to make appropriate referrals to medical and psychiatric professionals as needed. Ann's approach is non-judgmental, and yet pragmatic, with the best interest of the children in the forefront of her work with families.
