Mr. Munoz provides online and in-person mediation services focusing on professional liability, employment, personal injury, and trust litigation matters throughout California.

Professional Background

Prior starting his mediation practice, Mr. Munoz was a trial attorney for 23 years defending legal malpractice claims and attorney-client fee disputes, miscellaneous professional liability, employment and personal injury cases through verdict. Mr. Munoz is a certified specialist in Legal Malpractice Law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. He currently serves on the California State Bar Committee on Professional Responsibility and Conduct where the Committee interprets and issues opinions regarding legal ethics and the California Rules of Professional Conduct. He was the former Chair for the Legal Malpractice Law Advisory Commission for the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. In addition to his mediation practice, Mr. Munoz has presented locally and nationally on issues of legal malpractice, conflicts of interests and legal ethics and serves as an expert witness on those issues in legal malpractice matters.

Experience

Mr. Muñoz is a full-time mediator, arbitrator and discovery referee with a private ADR practice. Additionally, he is a mediator for the California Third District Court of Appeal Mediation Program, a Dispute Resolution Conference judge for El Dorado County Superior Court and a Mandatory Settlement Conference Judge Pro Tem for Sacramento County Superior Court successfully resolving civil disputes. Mr. Munoz has 40 hours of mediation training from the Pepperdine School of Law Strauss Institute for Dispute Resolution and 40 hours of mediation training through the National Conflict Resolution Center.

Mr. Munoz believes that all cases can settle. Demonstrating empathy and compassion for the parties ensuring that everyone is heard, and working hard for the parties and counsel to get to the core of the dispute is essential to be an effective mediator.

Fees

$2,500 for half-day mediation (includes preparation, a pre-mediation call with counsel and a 4 hour mediation session) $4,500 for full-day mediation (includes preparation, a pre-mediation call with counsel and an 8 hour mediation session) $450/hour for any time spent after the 4 or 8 hours allotted for a mediation
