Description of Practice
Educating clients on their options surrounding their legal matters is an important part of my service to clients. Choosing a method to proceed is also an important discussion with clients. This includes alternative dispute resolution such as divorce mediation and collaborative law, both of which I greatly enjoy. Clients appreciate the creative solutions that come from such alternative approaches and which generally benefit both parties. Most clients note that while divorce is a difficult time, working together through mediation or the collaborative process made the proceedings bearable and yielded better-than-expected results, with long-term benefits. Intangible benefits such as learning to be active listeners and problem solvers together carry with them as they communicate in the future on family matters. Clients state they wouldn’t have done it any other way.

In addition to having taken mediation training curriculum as a practicing attorney, I also teach the Mediation Advocacy Workshop at Marquette University Law School to help law students learn how to advocate for clients in a mediation setting. I am active with collaborative law cases and client education and have taken several ADR (alternative dispute resolution) courses while in law school and while practicing. Clients indicate they appreciate the mediation process and often thank me for the patience and understanding throughout the process.
Educational approach focused on listening to client's interests, concerns, desires and goals to help parties reach amicable agreements.
