Professional Background

Lisa Hammer holds a B.S. in Sociology, a Master's in Public Administration as well as Juris Doctorate. She is a licensed attorney and certified mediator. She has worked with individuals, small businesses and non-profits in legal operations and dispute resolution for five years, with a goal of making legal resolutions easier and more affordable.


Lisa is a Certified Mediator in the State of Montana. Along with her law degree, she has completed both General and Family Mediation training in the facilitative model. Lisa mediates a variety of civil and family cases both privately and for local non-profit programs. Lisa also serves as a trainer to private and non-profit groups in Dispute Resolution and mediation principles.


Lisa holds a Bachelor's in Sociology from the College of Saint Benedict, a Masters in Public Administration from Montana State University, and a Juris Doctorate from Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota.


Lisa is trained in and uses the facilitative model of mediation almost exclusively. Keeping parties together and in direct communication is one of the most effective tools for a mediator. As an attorney, Lisa is familiar with a settlement approach to mediation which she uses in special circumstances.


Lisa is a firm believer that mediation should be affordable and accessible. She works with reduced-fees and sliding scale fees for those in need of them.

Lisa works with parties to also draft Agreements and court documents stemming from mediation, ensuring that all agreements through mediation are finalized and filed appropriately.
