Description of Practice

Mediation of potential and actual disputes in employment, civil rights, construction, non-competes, trade secrets, business transactions. contracts, deceptive trade practices, personal injury.
Professional Background
Trial lawyer and lead counsel in State and Federal Appeals for four decades and for over three decades have dealt with ADR on three continents. Primary experience is in employment matters, trade secrets, covenants of non-compete, construction, and contracts.
Experience
I have been involved in ADR since 1982, including dealing with disputes in places as diverse as Houston, Texas, Geneva, Switzerland, Riyadh, Saudia Arabia, and New York City. I have mediated cases ranging from employment matters to construction, trade secrets, non-competes, contract disputes, and personal injury.
Degrees
Undergraduate degree from University of Houston and after military service graduated from the University of Texas School of Law followed by post graduate work at Columbia Law School in New York City, NY and The Hague Academy of International Law, The Hague, Netherlands. Extensive training in mediation.

Approach
In a mediation, I seek to integrate facilitative and evaluative methods with an effort to empower all parties elements drawn from the concept of transformative mediation. No single approach is consistently the only one appropriate to a particular situation. In any dispute I am consistent in taking a sincere, empathetic approach seeking resolution that satisfies all parties after they leave the mediation.
Fees
My fee for a full day is $1,400 per party and $900 for a half day.
Other Information
I have frequently spoken to audiences of lawyers, human resource professionals, and mangers on employment law, trade secrets, and non-competes. I have done so in forty nine states of the United States as well as in Europe.
