Description of Practice
My unique characteristic is connecting with people. I'm interested in your stories. The thing about mediation is that YOU decide what you want - I just help you get there. I practiced family law and business law for almost 20 years, and I was in court a lot. Since I run my own law and mediation practice, I am flexible and affordable while I provide you great individualized service.
Professional Background
Owner/Mediator/Lawyer, Michele Clark Law & Mediation, 2016-present; Assistant Professor of Business Law, Metropolitan State University, 2016-present; Owner/Lawyer, Michele Clark Law, LLC, 2007-2016; Attorney/Supervisor, Texas RioGrande Legal Aid, 2001-2007; Legal Services Coordinator, SafePlace, 1999-2001; Attorney, Women's Advocacy Project, 1997-1999
Experience
I have mediated divorces, custody and child support cases; business partner negotiations; civil cases asking for money; homeowners' association disputes; and, breach of contract cases. As an attorney, I participated in dozens of mediations; as a mediator, I've conducted hundreds. Mediation is an art, but it must be blended with reality.
Degrees
I graduated from Williams College in 1988 with a B.A. in Art History, from the University of Colorado School of Law in 1997 with a J.D., and from the University of Colorado Graduate School of Public Affairs in 1997 with an M.P.A. In between my schooling, I taught high school French, traveled North America and worked as a legal secretary at a big law firm in Colorado Springs.
