Description of Practice

With over 20 years of experience practicing family law in Massachusetts, Beth is a mediator and collaborative lawyer focusing on alternative dispute resolution. Beth has been counsel in notable decisions such as a Norfolk Probate Court order granting mistrial of a divorce trial. She has also appeared before the Supreme Judicial Court, presented numerous appeals before the Massachusetts Appeals Court, and has been counsel of record in several decisions dealing with child custody and domestic abuse. In addition to her private practice, Beth is a mentor member of the Committee for Public Counsel Services Children and Family Law Appeals Panel, handling child welfare appeals for indigent children and parents. Most recently before founding Nussbaum Family Law, Beth was a senior attorney with the law firm of Smith Lee Nebenzahl LLP, where she specialized in family law and also represented clients with employment and foreclosure issues. Beth has had speaking engagements on Motions for Relief from Judgment, CAFL Appellate Trainings 2010, and is a published author: Child Welfare Practice in Massachusetts, MCLE, Investigation and Discovery, Court Investigators and Guardians Ad Litem, Post Judgment Representation, 2012. Beth is a member of the Academy of Certified Financial Litigators, The Divorce Center, the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, the Massachusetts Collaborative Law Council, the Massachusetts Council on Family Law Mediation, the Women’s Bar Association, and Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc.
