Description of Practice
Divorce is a very emotional and challenging experience that also involves financial, tax, and legal issues, including the preparation of legal documents. My training and experience as a Marriage and Family Therapist will help you to balance and channel your emotions and to clearly and respectfully express your needs and concerns so that you and your partner can create a fair and reasonable agreement. My training and experience as an accountant will guide you through the complex financial and tax issues you will encounter. My training and experience as an attorney will help you to identify, discuss, and creatively resolve the many legal issues that are involved in divorce and post-divorce issues; I will also prepare all the legal documents required by the courts.
I also have significant personal experience with divorce: my parents were divorced when I was young, several of my siblings are divorced, I have been divorced twice, and am married for the third time. I have co-parented my own five children (ages 4-14 at the time of the divorce), and have step-parented four other children.
Therefore, I understand--both professionally and personally--the emotions, issues, and challenges you will face, so I will guide you and help you overcome those challenges and reach a resolution that both partners can accept and honor.
