- Master of Arts (M.A.) From Abilene Christian University, Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation
2014 – 2015
ACU’s stellar program equips peacemakers with the unique ability to reframe conflict as an opportunity to clarify misunderstanding and constructively engage difference. Furthermore, ACU’s peacemakers are well-versed in depersonalizing conflict: they are able to separate the people from the problem and objectively focus on the subject matter of a conflict, which diffuses intense emotions and aids conflicting parties in reaching a collaborative resolution.
In addition, I received a certificate in 40 hours of mediation and negotiation training from the Duncum Center for Conflict Resolution. This training taught students that effective negotiating occurs when the parties focus on interests (not positions), which enables negotiators to integrate their unique interests into mutually beneficial outcomes. In addition, the mediation training teaches students how to guide the parties through the mediation process in a neutral, unimposing manner.
