Description of Practice

Jerry mediates issues regarding elder law and estate planning. Issues frequently arise concerning care for aging parents, including disputes between children, problems with caregivers, and understanding the wishes of the elderly. When someone has passed away, new challenges and disputes arise among the heirs and beneficiaries which may require guidance for resolution.

Jerry has an extensive legal, negotiation and investigative background that makes him uniquely qualified to mediate these difficult disputes. Jerry is a graduate from the University of Colorado School of School of Law, holds a B.A. from U.C. Berkeley and is former linguist for the U.S. Air Force. He is a member of the California and Colorado Bar.

Jerry practiced family law in Denver where he specialized in difficult custody and parenting time cases, as well as large asset dissolution of marriages. This background is very helpful when addressing the family dynamics surrounding elder law, estate planning and probate.

Jerry is a member of the California Bar Association, Contra Costa Superior Court Alternative Dispute Resolution Panel, the Contra Costa County Bar Association, where he belongs to the Alternative Dispute Resolution, Elder Law and Estate Planning sections, and the Alameda County Bar Association, where he belong the Dispute Resolution and Estate Planning sections.

Professional Background

Jerry has a very diverse background which allows him to understand and help resolve a variety of issues. He have practiced family law in Colorado where he dealt with complex family and financial issues. He has also worked as a mortgage fraud investigator, and as Federal Investigator for the EEOC. Jerry also worked in the insurance industry handling liability claims as well as complex workers' compensation claims. Finally, Jerry has a military back ground, having served in the U.S. Air Force as a Vietnamese linguist.


Jerry has resolved numerous matters throughout the years, including family matters, contract disputes, workplace issues, insurance and injury law suits.


Jerry earned his law degree from the University of Colorado School of Law in 1998. He graduated from U.C. Berkeley with a B.A. in Anthropology, and graduated from the Defense Language Institute having learned basic Vietnamese.

Dispute resolution can be emotional and scary. Jerry offers a very calm demeanor and comfortable place where we can talk about the dispute, and look for solutions that will work for you and your family. Before the mediation begins, ground rules are set about how the participants will behave. During mediation, the issues are clearly outlined and addressed logically and politely. The solutions that come from mediation are handcrafted by you, with guidance from Jerry. In the end, the goal is to have an agreement that both parties can abide by and be comfortable with.


Jerry's basic fee is $250/hour for a two party mediation. If there are multiple parties the fee will increase based on the complexity of the case.
