Description of Practice
Senior Mediator, Beth Myers, at The RoundTable Group, Inc. is dedicated to providing facilitative dispute resolution services.
A skilled interpersonal communicator, I strive to surface underlying issues, problem solve, and manage conflict while simultaneously seeking opportunities for innovation and consensus building among participants.
Since 2010, I have assisted hundreds of divorcing couples, individuals, and business leaders reach mutually agreed solutions to seemingly intractable differences. My personal goal is to help people avoid costly, high stress and time consuming legal battles or HR processes in favor of self determined outcomes. Of course, when a court interaction is necessary, such as with divorce, my goal is to empower client's to make their own decisions, ideally with the guidance of a mediation friendly attorney, such that they arrive at court with an agreement that will be readily approved by the court.
I bring to mediation a range of experience from F100 business operations and marketing to nearly 20 years as an entrepreneur and small business owner. On a relational note, I started my first business when I was 6 years old;navigated a difficult divorce in MA for nearly 15 years which lead me to pursue over 460 hours of mediation, negotiation, communications and conflict management training. I posses a natural capacity for empathy in the mediation setting. If the participants are willing to work at resolution, I am uniquely qualified to help.
500+ cases mediated with the bulk of those as part of Maine’s District Court ADR program: Small Claims, Landlord/Tenant and Family Matters. Extensive private mediation and conflict coaching work with a range of employers re: workplace conflict at C-Suite, management, and key staff levels. Volunteering with non-profit organizations added agricultural mediation with the USDA, and several highly complex multi-party scenarios such as co-mediating a 14 party mediation to decide placement for a disabled youth.
• MA Conflict Resolution, UMass Boston, Candidate 2019
• BS Organizational Communications, Northeastern University
• AS Accounting, Northeastern University
• Certificate, Paralegal Studies, Bridgewater State University
• 500+ hours of mediation training in Massachusetts and Maine with esteemed training organizations
I am a facilitative mediator, flexible and adept at working with the energy in the room. There is no singular approach to mediation or Ombuds services that applies equally well to all scenarios. My goal is to provide what works best for each client's energy and need.
Face to face facilitated dialogue is the preferred approach. However, there are times when one or both participants are uncomfortable meeting in the same room. In that case we will use a 'shuttle negotiation' approach where the mediator, or co-mediators, go back and forth between separate rooms for each person.
Workplace matters are typically provided at the workplace though can take place at mutually agreed offsite locations.
Private mediation or coaching sometimes takes place virtually, or at a mutually agreed location.
Fees vary with type of service and ability to pay. Starting hourly rate is $275.00 for mediation or coaching. Half-day (4 hours) coaching or training sessions are $1,000. Travel costs will be agreed to in advance and will be limited to out-of-pocket costs. There is no charge for travel time.
I have relocated to the Metro D.C. area! The Roundtable Group, Inc. (RTG)remains a MA company based in Cohasset, Massachusetts. RTG continues to support clients in Massachusetts and Maine through RTG affiliates.
