Description of Practice

Upstate Divorce Mediation provides divorce and family mediation services to clients, with offices located in Albany, Coxsackie, Catskill and Saratoga Springs. David Louis, President and Co-Founder, is recognized as an Advanced Practitioner by the Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR). I can provide couples who have decided to separate or divorce the opportunity to cost effectively discuss and come to an agreement on the terms of their separation agreement and/or divorce settlement. My rates are affordable and I offer a sliding scale fee structure for families with lower incomes. I will provide a free one hour consultation to explain the mediation process and answer any questions.

Professional Background

After working in the public sector for 30+ years, where I specialized in consensus building and dispute resolution, I began extensive training and practice in the field of family and divorce mediation. I founded Upstate Divorce Mediation to provide professional and affordable services to couples who have decided to end their marriage.

Experience

I began my formal career in Mediation in 2006. I founded Upstate Divorce Mediation in 2009. Over the past six years, I have mediated hundreds of family cases, including separation and divorce. I am a respected member of the mediation community and serve on the Board of Directors of the following organizations: New York State Council on Divorce Mediation New York State Dispute Resolution Association Collaborative Divorce Association of the Capital District In addition to my private mediation practice, I provide volunteer mediation services to several non-profit community dispute resolution centers in the Albany area. I believe that all mediators should give back to their community.
