Description of Practice
Roger D. Meade is a full-time mediator, facilitator and arbitrator who can effectively assist parties in resolving a wide range of workplace, family law, and other disputes. Mr. Meade has 35 years of legal experience as a litigator and advocate in mediation before federal and state agencies and state and federal courts. Mr. Meade draws upon this significant legal experience for his work as a mediator, facilitator and arbitrator to enable the parties to successfully and expeditiously resolve complex disputes.
Mr. Meade is a former Navy SEAL. He began his legal career with the National Labor Relations Board, litigating federal labor law disputes before administrative and US District Court judges. Later, as partner in a major nation-wide labor and employment law firm, he represented clients in a wide array of employment law claims involving both federal and state laws, managing all phases of litigation, from discovery and motion practice through trial, brief writing, and appeals. During this time, he mediated numerous cases as an advocate, and provided advice and counsel to corporate clients on a broad range of employee- employer relationship matters. More recently, Mr. Meade served as in-house Labor Counsel for a large multinational corporation where his responsibilities included defense of all arbitration claims and mediation advocacy before state and federal agencies.
Throughout his legal career Mr. Meade participated in various forms of alternative dispute resolution as an advocate in a diversity of labor and employment matters. He has also mediated more than 75 consumer protection disputes as a volunteer with the Office of the Attorney General of Maryland. Through his calm demeanor and forthright manner, he is able to develop a sense of trust with all parties, and bring the most intractable disputes to resolution to the satisfaction of all concerned. Mr. Meade has undertaken formal mediation training with the University of Baltimore, under the auspices of the Maryland State Bar Association, the Northern Virginia Mediation Center, and the Mediation and Conflict Resolution Center of Howard County. He has studied family law mediation at The Mediation Center and is qualified to mediate difficult family law and child access disputes. Mr. Meade is currently a Certified Mediator on the roster for Circuit Courts in Baltimore City, Howard County, Queen Anne’s County, and Frederick County, Maryland.
Mr. Meade is trained as a facilitative mediator. He retains sufficient flexibility in his methodology to genuinely assist the parties to reach a mutually acceptable resolution.
