Description of Practice
Disagreements are to be expected, compromises are required - yet, the certainty of a mutually crafted written agreement absolutely trumps the uncertainty of relying upon an overworked, impersonal court system to make life altering decisions about you, your children, property and finances. In a private and confidential setting, I will systematically help you identify issues and interests, maintain an environment that encourages open and honest discussion and as an experienced family law practitioner, advise how Massachusetts law applies to your circumstances. Both of you know better than any other living person the details of your marital history; and you may have a clear sense of your priorities going forward. My task is to facilitate that conversation/negotiation dissolving a once very close and connected relationship. With the establishment of the Divorce Mediation Center I made the commitment to reject the contentious, costly, stressful litigation path for one that empowers my clients, both of them, to effectuate fair and reasonable goals in a private and confidential setting. At the conclusion of your successful mediation, I will prepare a written separation/divorce agreement in accordance with terms mutually negotiated by the both of you and in a form acceptable by the Massachusetts courts. I am ever mindful that my task is easier than yours.
I have been an attorney for over 25 years with an active general practice, including 2,000+ divorces litigated successfully to conclusion in the Massachusetts Courts. Over the last seven years I have assisted/empowered 250 couples to effectuate their own fair and reasonable goals in a private and confidential setting; and committed to writing their own negotiated divorce agreement for presentment to and approval of the Court. Lastly, I have been recognized as a "Certified Divorce Mediator" by the Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation, a designation reserved/limited to mediators with significant mediation experience, education and advanced mediation training.
City College of New York Brooklyn Law School
I do not charge for the initial consultation at which I will provide you with information about the divorce process generally and more specifically about divorce mediation. I will ask questions in order that we may all understand better what are your respective goals and priorities. This first meeting will last upwards of two hours. As much as I would like to continue on as your mediator, there is obligation that you employ me further. Thereafter, my hourly fee is $325 per hour. Over the last seven years the total cost has averaged $2,200.
