Description of Practice

I am a collaborative attorney and mediator assisting clients navigate separation and divorce and custody and visitation and parenting plans outside of the court system, recognizing that they, not a judge, know what is best for themselves and their children. I also serve as review and consulting attorney for clients engaged in the mediation process. I see clients in Manhattan, Downtown Brooklyn and in Great Neck and the North Fork of Long Island.

Professional Background

I am the Assistant Director of the National Association of Divorce Professionals Brooklyn Chapter and the immediate President of the Family and Divorce Mediation Council of Greater New York. I am a mediator on the custody and visitation mediation panel of the NYC Family Courts, mediating in Kings County. I am a member of the New York Association of Collaborative Professionals and a founding member of the Long Island Collaborative Divorce Professionals based in Suffolk County, New York. I am a certified mediator and mentor at the New York Peace Institute where I mediate family, marital, custody and visitation, child support and youth involved disputes, train new custody and visitation and chid support mediators, coach at mediation trainings and evaluate mediator video examinations. I have been a consultant for the Hunter College High School Bias and Dispute Panel, for which I conduct mediation trainings for staff and students. I am on the mediator panel of FamilyKind, a non-profit organization that helps families transition to new family structures using a sliding scale fee structure and teach the legal portion of their court-mandated parent education classes in Brooklyn and Suffolk county.

I have over 500 hours of mediation experience, primarily in the family and relationship arena, and I am a mediation trainer and CLE presenter on mediation and resolving family conflict.

I believe that the best solutions are shaped by the participants, not by a judge - only you can know what is truly best for you and your children. The collaborative process, negotiated settlement or mediation are ways to empower those who may have felt powerless, to allow them to speak and be heard in a safe and confidential space, and find an outcome that feels right to both parties.
