Ms. Kaster is an Arbitrator and a Mediator. 2018 recipient of the Garibaldi Inn's Richard K Jeydel Award and 2014 recipient of New Jersey State Bar Association's Boskey Award for ADR Practitioner of the year, she is a Fellow in the College of Commercial Arbitrators (CCA). Listed in 2015-2020 Who's Who Legal: Mediation as one of 295 world leaders in the field, she is a CEDR Accredited Mediator and certified by the International Mediation Institute (IMI).

Ms. Kaster listens and brings to your unique conflict over 30 years of experience with complex commercial disputes. She is Chair-Elect of the NYSBA Dispute Resolution Section, past Chair of the NJSBA Dispute Resolution Section, and past President of the Garibaldi Inn of Court, the only ADR Inn, Co-Editor of the NY Dispute Resolution Lawyer, a member of the New Jersey Supreme Court's Complementary Dispute Resolution Committee.

She is a speaker for PLI, the CCA, ABA, NJSBA, NYSBA, NJAPM. She is a member of the panel of distinguished neutrals for CPR and a member of its IP panel, on the Tech List for the Silicon Valley Arbitration and Mediation Center and on the Master Mediator Panel of the American Arbitration Association, the Global CEDR panel and is also an Arbitrator for the AAA, FINRA. She is on the NJ Roster of Mediators ,the Roster of Mediators for the NY Commercial Division of the Supreme Court and\ member of the Board of NJAPM.

Professional Background

Ms. Kaster was Chief litigation counsel for AT&T Corporation from 1997 to 2006, where she supervised litigation, arbitration, mediation and or settlement of all AT&T patent cases, trademark and trade secret cases, other intellectual property matters involving telecommunications, software, internet, audio, and related technology, class actions, post-closing disputes relating to AT&T's purchase and sale of significant businesses.

She was responsible for matters, involving multimillion dollar complex supplier, outsourcing, major customer disputes and international arbitrations, including the resolution of AT&T’s claims against 50 insurance carriers arising out of the damage to the World Trade Center on 9/11. She has handled matters under the AAA rules, CPR rules, ICC and other international proceedings.

Ms. Kaster handled and resolved class actions and class action appeals in employment and ERISA related disputes and was involved in establishing AT&T's consumer arbitration program and its retention and email policies. She had wide exposure to e-discovery.

Before joining AT&T, Ms. Kaster was a partner at Jenner & Block, where she handled a wide variety of complex disputes involving intellectual property, technology, environmental issues, taxes, fees and sanctions, closely held companies and estates.

Experience

She has mediated over 300 matters and arbitrated over 70 commercial disputes, technology and pharmaceutical contracts and patent and patent licensing disputes, complex contract disputes, outsourcing, attorney's fees, construction, partnership, commissions and employment disputes.

Degrees

Ms. Kaster holds a BA from Tufts University (Political Science); and a JD, magna cum laude from Boston University School of Law, where she was Notes Editor for the Law Review and recipient of the Melville M. Bigelow Award "for the greatest promise as a teacher and scholar in the law". Following law school, she was a law clerk to then Chief Judge Frank M. Coffin of the Federal Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, who serves as her inspiration to help resolve disputes.

All the tools of mediation should be available to assist the parties to reach a resolution better for each of them than they can expect to reach if they proceed to court.
