I offer mediation services for all types of family law matters, including divorce, separation, parenting, relocation, and minor guardianship issues. I help people who are working with attorneys or representing themselves and at all stages of the dispute process, often before anything has been filed with the court. The term “family law” is fairly broad—if you aren’t sure if your dispute fits the definition, please feel free to reach out and we can determine if it is a good fit.
I began practicing law in 2005, working first in highly contentious litigation cases. In 2014, I began my training in collaborative law and family law mediation and have been working in dispute resolution since. Having worked in both litigation and mediation, I am a firm believer that resolving disputes is a better path for everyone capable of so doing. Coming to a mutual resolution is not only a more emotionally efficient process, but it also leads to fewer conflicts on the other side of the agreement. We call this reaching a durable resolution or a lasting agreement.
My goal as your mediator is to help each party find a safe and respectful forum to speak their thoughts and requests, help to define what is agreed, and isolate what issues remain to be resolved. We then work through the process of gathering information and brainstorming a path towards resolution. This process applies from everything from parenting schedules to the division of complex assets such as restricted stock units. I come from the school of mediation that believes there is no such things as impasse and work to find ways to help find a common ground in tough situations.
I am a graduate of Seattle University and Seattle University School of Law and I have been a member of the Washington State Bar Association since 2005. I am a member of both the Snohomish County Bar Associations and the King County Bar Association, including membership in the family law and alternative dispute resolution sections. I have been a collaborative professional and mediator since 2014 and continue my education in dispute resolution as my primary focus, including conducting trainings and writing articles about the benefit of early mediation practice. I work as a Mediator, Arbitrator, and Senior Attorney at McKinley Irvin out of the Seattle and Everett offices.
If you have a dispute with a co-parent or current or former partner (or would like to avoid a possible dispute), please reach out and we can determine how I can be of service to you and your family.
