Dr. Barbara Sunderland Manousso, a Texas Distinguished Certified Mediator, was awarded the Texas Association of Mediators’ 2019 Suzanne Adams Top MediatorAward, 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award for mediation and the Houston Business Journal recognized her as a 2018 Woman Who Means Business. She is a past-president of the Association of Conflict Resolution (ACR) Houston chapter and has served on national and international committees for the Association of Conflict Resolution, such as former chair of the ACR education, research, and training section, being the current co-chair for the Healthcare Section and formerly the co-chair of the Workplace Section. Since 1993, she has been in practice as a mediator, arbitrator, conflict resolution coach, author, and alternative dispute resolution trainer. She has trained mediators in Thailand, China, Canada, South Korea, and India.
Dr. Manousso’s baccalaureate was from Brown University, Master of Public Health from the University of Texas School of Public Health in Community Health, and Ph.D. from Nova Southeastern University in Conflict Analysis and Resolution. Dr. Manousso is certified as a trainer and coach in the Conflict Dynamic Profile. She attended South Texas College of Law.
In 2008, Barbara Manousso was appointed by Texas Governor Perry to serve on the Nursing Facility Administrators Advisory Committee. In 2010, Dr. Manousso was recognized as one of Houston’s Fifty Most Influential Women of Houston.
Dr. Barbara Sunderland Manousso, a Texas Distinguished Certified Mediator, has been mediating and arbitrating since 1993. Not only does mediate and arbitrate in her private practice based in Houston, Texas, and she serves on many national panels. For many years, her training programs for individuals and corporations on mediation and arbitration have repeatedly sold out. She brings practical experience and skill training with a quality team of lecturers in many genres including healthcare, eeoc, workplace, contract, and consumer.
She also lectures worldwide on conflict management and has authored many articles, and is currently working on two books. Dr. Manousso is one of a handful of academics with a Ph.D. in Conflict Analysis and Resolution. She is certified in the Conflict Dynamic Profile, that helps assess management skills in relationship to their conflict behaviors.
Dr. Manousso has been mediating since 1993. Her areas of practice have been broad in workplace, real estate, civil contract, oil and gas, police, elder and adult care mediation, divorce, auto and lemon law, construction, environmental issues, and consumer contract. Dr. Manousso’s approach to mediation is conference style, where the parties are given the opportunity to speak and be heard. Caucus is used for clarifying issues, values, and perspectives. Mediation time is well used to move the clients forward as architects of solutions.
On average, fees are $150 per party per hour with a three hour non-refundable minimum. Most cases are booked for a half or whole day.
The full day rate is $2,000 for two parties, each additional party is $1,100. All fees must be paid in advance before the mediation is scheduled.

All mediation fees are non-refundable and, once a date is set, there are no refunds for rescheduling.
