ADR Experience

Dr. Cahill’s dispute resolution experience is scholarly and practical. She was the Hewlett Fellow for Dispute Resolution at the University of Wisconsin, where she received her Ph.D. Prior to her family law practice, she worked in academia, and published on the scholarly issues of dispute resolution such as fairness, settlement and process. As a practicing attorney and mediator on the court-approved list since 2003, Dr. Cahill is mindful of the benefits- and the pitfalls- of mediation. She strives to help the couple achieve their goals in dispute resolution.

Dr. Cahill is a trained and experienced lawyer and mediator, who is mindful of the distress divorce or separation can cause a couple to experience. Once size does not fit all. Mediation sessions are specifically designed to meet the needs of the couple where they are individually. Successful mediations involve the readiness of both parties to participate and communicate, and a transparency of information on key issues. Dr. Cahill faciliates this, and encourages the couple to get input from mediation-friendly attorneys during the mediation process. This helps to make the commitment to an ultimate settlement stronger. Her work in mediation and collaborative law is client-driven, and where applicable, child-centered.
