This paper seeks to draw upon the experiences of Nigeria as a growing mediation movement to serve as a blueprint for emerging mediation movements.
In November 2020, Mediate.com approached D.G. Mawn of the National Association for Community Mediation (NAFCM) to facilitate a national think tank regarding possible support Mediate.com may wish to consider which would strengthen and broaden the impact of community mediation through on-line access. The exact charge was: Develop best-practice recommendations for Mediate.com regarding their online services so they best support the field of community mediation to embrace and offer online mediation services and utilize and benefit from basic and ongoing online mediation training.

Constructive dialogue is essential in our world today, and indeed, transformative. It has the ability to open our eyes to the pain of others as well as our own.
Why do mediators request briefs from the parties? No- it is not just to learn about the case.
There are multiple instances where there is conflict without resolution. However, we can see examples in the gang truce where resolution has been possible.
Following the “insurrection,” “putsch,” or “attempted coup” in Washington D.C., on January 6, 2021, and the subsequent acquittal of President Trump on impeachment charges, we find ourselves facing extremely significant and difficult, yet very different political conflicts and challenges from those we faced before.
The article suggests that there is little formal training for mediators, especially volunteer mediators who may co mediate with many different partners to work effectively together, and makes some simple and concrete suggestions for ways to remedy this.
My goal has always been to provide each and every mediation participant with the most satisfying experience possible.

The ACE’s (Adverse Childhood Experiences) ACE’s study, is one of the largest studies about traumatic events in the lives of children ages 0-17. This study identifies three types of risk factors for trauma in children: abuse, neglect and household dysfunction.
Taking offense at even minor things is a phenomenon that has been growing steadily over the last several decades.

You may have seen this recent New York Times story about the failure of Marathon County, Wisconsin, to declare itself “A Community for All.”
When I work with clients, I first listen carefully and empathically to their story. They need to tell it and I need to hear it.
As the COVID-19 pandemic recedes, every aspect of our pre-pandemic ways of work is under review. Simply returning to our old ways is not the answer.
If we listen to the main stream media, it can often seem as if there is no hope for people of different beliefs, races, religions, politics, gender etc. to be in the same room together much less get along.
