An excellent article, which generally describes my experience as a Hurricane Sandy mediator. I would add that the demeanor of the Claims representatives varied and that those who started their presentation acknowledging and expressing sympathy for the homeowner's loss and harm suffered, made the process easier and was more likely to result in a settlement that satisfied the Claimants. As opposed to those settlements where the Claimants recognized they had little alternatives available and settled for what was offered.
