Mediators should strive to be experts in the mediation process. This requires a deeper understanding of conflict management concepts. While the courts and attorneys have taken great strides to incorporate mediation into the civil litigation process, a significant number of judges, attorneys and mediators, coast to coast, do not understand the fundamental concepts of mediation.
