Evaluation of Proposals

3. Evaluation of Proposals. The Scientific Committee.

 

I. Evaluation.

  1. The Scientific Committee is composed of a significant number of mediators from all over the world. They will evaluate the proposals in the language in which they are submitted.

    1. The list of Scientific Committee Members will be published in a Conference Newsletter and will be included in the Conference Programme.

ii. Scientific Committee members will receive a Certificate during the Conference accrediting their work.

  1. All proposals will be sent to two S.C. evaluators.
  2. i. If both approve , the proposal will be accepted

    ii. If one approves and the other disapproves, a third evaluator will give a decision.

    iii. Evaluators may also invite authors to consider their observations and/or to submit a more extensive proposal and/or published papers indicated in the CV

    iv. All communications must be made via the Secretariat of the Congress: BAYFEM

  3. Criteria: the S.C. evaluators will take into consideration the:
  4. i. conceptual consistency,

    ii. clarity in the expression of ideas,

    iii. proposal of innovative techniques and methods,

    iv. assessment of projects and proposal of new ones,

    v. originality and creativity,

    vi. overall proposal in relation to the CV.

  5. S.C. Evaluators shall send their evaluation within 30 days of receiving the proposal to the Secretariat of the Congress (BAYFEM)
  6. Evaluations shall refer briefly to the 6 evaluation items (or others the evaluator may consider appropriate) deciding acceptance, non-acceptance or reviewing of the proposal, and also on a scale from 1 to 5.

 

 

 

      1. = proposal not accepted.

3 = further review necessary

4 = proposal accepted

    1. = excellent proposal.

 

f. The evaluators shall receive within a week the confirmation of the reception of their evaluations. If not, they should send the evaluation once again.

g. Where the evaluator is unable to make a decision the proposal will be sent to another evaluator.

h. Evaluators may abstain from considering a proposal if a personal contact with the author/s or conflict of interest may limit their objectivity.

i. If an evaluator does not provide an evaluation within 30 days, on the 31st. day BAYFEM will send the proposal to another evaluator. If the original evaluation arrives after the 31st. day, it will not be considered.

j. Authors may send their observations in respect of the evaluations to BAYFEM but there is no right of appeal against a negative decision as the time and work involved do not permit the consideration of appeals.

 

Deadlines:

Ü Final reception of proposals (Abstracts and Bio): 31th October 2002

Ü Confirmation of acceptance of proposals: 9th December 2002

Ü Reception of the complete text of proposals 31st March 2003
