Mr. Sankary wins election as future head of Southern California Mediation Association.
NEW - Myer Sankary has been elected president-elect of the Southern California Mediation Association, the largest mediation organization in southern California, serving the needs of mediators and the community.
The election results were announced at the 19th Annual SCMA conference held at the campus of Pepperdine Law School on November 3, 2007. Mr. Sankary will be planning next year's conference and will assume his role as president of the organization in December 2008.
Mr. Sankary has held numerous positions on the board of SCMA for the past four years and has presented numerous educational programs teaching mediators about the new science of influence of which he is one of the leading experts.
He was a featured speaker at the November 3 conference presenting a two part program. The morning program introduced participants to the principles and theories underlying the science of influence and persuasion. In the afternoon, Mr. Sankary presented a workshop illustrating how mediators can apply the science of influence to become more effective and successful in achieving better results for their clients.
Participants in his workshops particularly enjoyed the multimedia approach to learning about the principles and practices. Mr. Sankary has developed a unique powerpoint presentation that tells the story through images and clips from films such as Wedding Crashers and 12 Angry Men.
Mr. Sankary has presented this program to numerous groups, including law firms such as Greenberg Glusker, the leading entertainment firm in LA, Sheppar Mullen Richter and Hampton and Rutter Hobbes. He also has presented the program to MBA students at the USC Marshall School of Business as well as law students at USC Law School.
Extensive Career in Mediation
Myer Sankary’s career in ADR is extensive, dating back to 1985 when he began doing family law mediation. Mr. Sankary's research, training and experience make him an exceptionally astute mediator. He has a unique sensitivity to the cross-cultural, psychological and personality issues that often affect the attitudes of parties in dispute.  Mr. Sankary is a graduate of the Harvard Law School (1965) and has received most of his training in mediation at the Straus Institute of Conflict Resolution at Pepperdine Law School. Mr. Sankary also received his B.A. in Philosophy and Metaphysics from Texas Christian University (1962), graduating summa cum laude.
