Are you ready for additional and more challenging mediation cases? Would you like to take your practice to the next level AND increase the regularity of your case load? If yes, then this Level II (Intermediate) workshop is an essential part of your training and will lend added credibility and success to your mediation work – paid or volunteered.
Sharpen your skills, strengthen your ability to get to “yes" and increase your practice through a series of challenging role-plays and marketing tips, complete with feedback and coaching from seasoned mediation trainers and professionals. This two-day course is intended for Level I trained mediators who are ready to move to the next skill level. It is comprised of intermediate (Level II) role-plays designed to challenge and deepen your intuitive awareness and skill as a trained mediator. Each role-play will be followed by extensive coaching and feedback to enhance your personal effectiveness and settlement rate. We will explore the following challenging areas of practice:
- 10 mistakes mediators make
- Techniques of transformative mediation
- How to get to understanding and settlement
- Working with intense emotions
- Dealing with difficult participants
- Reaching forgiveness
- Increasing your intuitive and reflective capacities as a mediator
- Getting parties to the table
- Marketing your mediation practice. Whether you’re already being paid to mediate or want to be paid in the future to mediate, you can benefit from “Marketing Tips for Mediators”. We’ll help you clarify your personal vision and goals; identify your niche and target markets; determine how best to reach your desired market(s) on a budget; brand and position yourself as a mediator (and understand what that means); and start to develop or fine tune your personal message. Finding the right “marketing mix” is essential if you want to have a successful mediation practice.
Participants are asked to be open about professional challenges and struggles, and those who are able to offer and hear constructive feedback will find the course most productive.
This training can be taken concurrently with a supervised internship with Community Mediation Program of Santa Barbara (see "Supervised Internship") or at a site of your choice.
Time: 9 A.M – 5:00 P.M. Saturday; 9:00 - 4:00 Sunday
Fee: $695
