Mission Statement

My goal as a mediator is to utilize my skills, acquired over a lifetime, to assist parties to resolve their disputes in a direct, honest, fast and economical manner. I will use my training and experience as a basis to help parties to understand their real needs and values and to voluntarily and positively engage themselves in the process of facilitated negotiation. I will strive to understand the true positions and needs of all the parties and allow them to reach a solution without imposing my personal values upon them. I will assist them in understanding the needs of the other party as well as their own. I will make sure that each party has a realistic understanding of their weaknesses and of the risks involved in litigation. I will encourage all parties to consult with legal counsel. I will carefully assist the parties in drafting an agreement that addresses all significant issues and diminishes the likelihood of problems in the future. I will scrupulously respect the confidentiality of mediation proceedings. I will continually strive to improve my skills as a mediator and peacemaker through experience, training and study. I will fully comply with the ABA/ACR Model Standards of Practice for Mediators. I will always be neutral, patient, and perseverant.

I hold it to be a proof of great prudence for men to abstain from threats and insulting words toward an enemy, for neither… diminishes the strength of the enemy; but the one makes him more cautious, and the other increases his hatred of you and makes him more persevering in his efforts to injure you.
