Richard Lister comes to RAMS with a significant amount of civil litigation experience.  He began his career in Riverside with the law firm of Thompson & Colegate where he practiced in the field of insurance defense. He then went to San Diego to gain further experience where he worked for the firm of Irving & Butz. Richard worked for Larry Irving until Mr. Irving was appointed to the federal bench in San Diego.  Richard then moved back to the Inland Empire where he worked for 15 years for the firm of Welebir, Lister & McCune,  He quickly became one of the named partners of the firm whose specialty was representing plaintiffs in complex and serious personal injury matters.  Richard's background involving tort litigation includes products liability, professional negligence, aviation, common carrier as well as actions involving automobiles and premises liability.  He also had a considerable amount of experience in the areas of insurance coverage and extra contractual liability.

In 1996, Richard returned to the defense side of the table when he worked as a civil litigation counsel for the State Farm companies. For the next 5 years he continued his trial practice representing policy holders as well as the company in uninsured motorist claims.  He was asked to work in the San Diego office where he oversaw appeals and dispositive motions for State Farm. Richard then returned to the Inland Empire and went to work for Brian Hartnell in Redlands where he again became a named partner. Richard has applied his civil litigation experience to the firms handling of trusts and conservatorships and has spent the last several years in the field of probate and trust litigation.

Mr. Lister has been handling judicial arbitrations and mediations for Riverside and San Bernardino County Superior Courts for many years.  He has also served as a mediator for the Fourth District Court of Appeal in Riverside.

Richard has been long involved with the legal community for the Inland Empire. He has been a member of the San Bernardino County Bar Association since 1981, and has served on and chaired a number of committees. He was President in 1996-97.  He served on the Board of Directors for the Inland Chapter of the California Trial Lawyers Association from 1987-1993 and as it's President from 1989-1992.  He currently holds the title of Master in the Joseph Campbell Chapter of the American Inns of Court. Richard also proudly serves on the Board of Directors of the San Bernardino Legal Aid Society.

He attended University of California Los Angeles where in 1973 he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. Richard received his law degree from California Western School of Law in San Diego, graduated cum laude in 1976.

Richard Lister is available for mediations and binding arbitrations in Redlands as well as other Southern California communities including Southern Riverside County and San Diego County.

Mr. Lister's fees are $300.00 per hour.
