Managing Your Pages
The Pages Tab is where the action is, particularly with our new WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) page editor!
Here is the Pages Tab screen:
Note that all tabs in the Control Panel System have a link for "View Site"
It is best to regularly save your work by submitting it and to review your work on an ongoing basis.
Your Pages are organized as either Top Level, Lower Level or External Pages.
Top Level Pages are the ones that are displayed in your left navigation system on your site. Lower Level Pages (also known as Sub-Pages and Child Pages, can be established at any number of levels. As you will see, any time you designate a Sub or Child Page, you will need to say who the "Parent" of that page is (where that page is linked). Add a Page will give you a blank form to complete. Change Sort Order allows you to change the order your navigation displays. External Pages are links to other sites that are elegantly woven into your navigation system. These links can be at the Top Level or posted as a Sub-Page to any other Page.
Special Note: You can not, however, have an External Link as a Sub-Page of another External Link, only of a Top Level or Lower Level Page.
If you choose to Edit a Page, you will see a screen like this:
The first field is for Page Title.
The Page Title field determines what is show as the navigation link and it is recommended that you keep this very short.
You need to decide whether a page is a Top Level or Sub-Page and, if a Sub-Page, which page is the "Parent." You can change these settings at any time. Recognizing this takes the heat off! You can move your information around your dynamic site in modular ways on an ongoing basis.
Meta Tags are important to assist Search Engines to best find you and, upon finding you, for you to look as good as possible. Your Page Title Tag should be a best possible page name. Your Page Description should be a capable sentence of up to 165 characters. Your Keywords should be separated by a comma.
Capably naming your pages will also help you to best understand your weekly statistics which also come with the Dynamic Web Site. If you would like to read more about getting your site listed in search engines, please read our Web Shop Director's article "How to Get Your Web Site Listed in Search Engines".
As you continue down a page, you reach the Content Section, you will immediately feel comfortable with our new WYSIWYG Page Editor. Our editor allows you to cut, copy paste; redo and undo; move text or image by tabs left or right; align text or image left, center or right; add or delete bullets; insert tables, images and hyperlinks; change font, font size and font color; use bold, italic and underline; and place a link and graphic for "Print this"
In short, our new WYSIWYG editor is amazing!
