The Beauty of Conflict
Lessons from the Visual and Theatre Arts for Negotiators, Mediators and Conflict Management Practitioners
The artist , like the negotiator, must draw upon their gut instinct as well as analytical abilities to deal effectively with conflict. Both must develop an intuitive sensibility that allows for them to think outside of the box and creatively problem solve. This series of articles discusses those themes, examining how great artists from Titian, Gertileschi and Caravaggio in the Renaissance to Picasso, Goya and Richter in present times, have dealt with many of the same issues as have conflict management practitioners, specifically, bias, perspective and authenticity, among others.
