Welcome to O'Day Resolutions
I am a Supreme Court Certified Family and Civil Mediator, Qualified Parent Coordinators, and trained Collaborative Law Attorney.
O'Day Resolutions is founded upon the belief that families are best served by removing and reducing conflicts that have traditionally been dealt with in the courts. Although we have the best legal system in the world, I know from decades of experience, that the court system is overburdened, stressful, expensive and takes a very long time to address any problem. Applying our court system to family issues usually results in all parties being unhappy with both the process and the results.
O'Day Resolutions is dedicated to providing our clients with cost effective, practical and fair professional services that include the clients as part of the problem solving process. I assist clients throughout the West Coast of Florida.

Many of us are now facing critical times in our parents’ lives. As our parents age, they may be facing health issues, possible need for in home health care or assisted living facilities, driving issues, and financial issues. The information needed to address these and many more issues of aging parents can be overwhelming. Adult siblings may each have the best of intentions for the care and assistance of their parents, but may have fundamental disagreements about how to address these issues. Family members may live at great distance from the parents making it more difficult to communicate and discuss these sensitive issues.
Any major change in a family's structure can cause enormous stress to those involved. Dealing with divorce, paternity issues, or even the negotiation of a prenuptial agreement can be emotionally difficult and financially costly. When these issues impact the lives of our children there is even a greater need for sensitivity and care. This is when the assistance of a professional mediator can help. As a skilled mediator my job is to facilitate the conversations that must occur to meet the needs and interests of all the concerned family members. Mediation is an efficient and sensitive solution to the complicated decisions that must occur during a divorce including parenting issues, division of assets and liabilities and the need for ongoing support. We can help you achieve an amicable, uncontested divorce.
Mediation is one the most cost effective and fair alternative dispute resolution techniques employed by litigants. Most court systems now recognizes the advantages of a mediated resolution and, therefore, require the parties to participate in mediation prior to setting a case for trial. In addition to Elder Mediation and Family Mediation, I am experienced in assisting with the resolution of other disputes and legal matters. Prior to my career as a litigator I was employed by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. In this capacity I developed a keen understanding of the dynamics of negotiations in a multi-cultural situation.
Parent Coordination is one of the newest forms of alternative dispute resolution that has developed in Florida. The Parenting Coordination Statute was just passed in 2009 by the Florida Legislature.
Parent Coordinators are specially trained professionals who assist parents in learning to effectively communicate with each other concerning their children, to resolve parenting issues without litigation and to consider the best interest of the children in all aspects of co-parenting.
After representing hundreds of families in the legal system I have found that our legal system simply does not have the financial resources to effectively and promptly deal with family law issues. Many times the length of time it takes to get into Court makes immediate resolution of time sensitive child related issues impossible and impractical. Also, the litigation process often leads to a cycle of conflict that ensures continued litigation and long term harm to the children. Children know when their parents are in conflict. Studies have shown that this ongoing litigation has long term negative effects on the children. Working with a trained parent coordinator reduces this ongoing conflict and works towards a productive co-parenting relationship.
Parent Coordinators can assist the parents in learning tools to assist with dealing with each other and their children. Parent Coordinators can also, with agreement of the parties, make temporary decisions subject to Court review. At PRC our goal, as Parent Coordinators is to "work ourselves out of a job". While parents often need some initial help in developing the new co-parenting relationship, particularly after a contentious divorce, we strive to help parents develop the new way of dealing with each other so that the parent coordinator is no longer necessary.
I firmly believe that communication is critical in the parenting arena and we have assisted countless families in learning how to effectively and frankly communicate with each other in order to help raise their children in the most loving and healthy manner possible.
