Andrea Marighetto is PhD Candidate in Comparative and Uniform Commercial Law at the University of Roma I La Sapienza - Italy. He also holds his first Ph.D. in Private Law, summa cum laude, from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul - Brazil (2010). He had a Master Degree in International Relations from the Università degli Studi di Padova - Italy (2003). He is LLB in Law from the Università degli Studi di Verona - Italy (2000) and from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul - Brazil (2008). He was Visiting Researcher at the Brazilian Ministry of Justice with research area on Mediation and Mediation On Line for Consumers (2007). He has Specialist Degree in Internacional Law from the Organization of American States - OEA (2007) and The Hague Academy of International Law (2011). He is professional mediator certified by Gregg Relyea Mediation Offices in Disputes Resolution and intern with Bridge Mediation LLC- San Diego - CA (2004). Currently, Andrea is invited professor of postgraduate courses in different Universities, in the field of the dispute resolution, arbitration and mediation. He is an international lawyer and mediator based in São Paulo (Brazil).

Arbitration, Mediation and Conciliation: differences and similarities from an International and Italian business perspective (08/16/04)
While mediation is a concept widely used in U.S., it has yet to truly benefit the legal community in Italy as a viable means to settle disputes. In Italy, mediation is a concept that is often mistakenly confused with conciliation; although the two methods have similar aspects, they are fundamentally different. To appreciate the differences between arbitration, mediation and conciliation, it is helpful to explain them separately. and to introduce the concept of mediation in the international business arena.
