James MacPherson

James MacPherson is an international Conflict Resolution expert with over twenty years experience within public and private sectors as a Mediator, ADR Trainer, Advisor and Systems Designer. He currently serves as Board Member of the International Mediation Institute.

 

Specialising in conflict resolution for corporate and governmental organisations, including designing and directing international, multilingual arbitration and mediation programs, Mr. MacPherson was Co-Founder and inaugural CEO of The Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution's joint venture, BCDR-AAA, with the American Arbitration Association. 

His extensive experience across the MENA included serving as a Country Director with the ABA’s Rule of Law Initiative, focusing on judicial and legal reform within Ministries of Justice and delivering programs to judges and lawyers in Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman and Syria.

He continues to advise businesses and government agencies in Africa, the Middle East and North America on ADR systems design and training as well as legislative policy.  In addition to designing and delivering ADR training in Bahrain, Canada, Germany, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, UAE, UK and USA, he has delivered Mediation trainings in French to legal practitioners in Morocco.   

A successful bilingual (English and French) mediator, Mr. MacPherson has mediated hundreds of disputes including numerous banking, insurance and other commercial and employment disputes. He has also created programmes and overseen the case management and resolution of thousands of matters ranging from community, commercial, construction, financial and IP/Tech, to indigenous disputes and organisational conflict.
