Description of Practice
A successful mediation is achieve through trust, expertise, and the right conversation at the right time. So, call me. Or, send an e-mail and I will call you. If we decide to work together, it will be because we talked, became comfortable, and decided to trust in mediation as a means to a solution, and trust in each other to arrive at a conclusion. My approach does not place many requirements or restrictions on the parties (or their attorneys, if involved). What you will get from me is focus, close attention to both facts and intangibles, and a determination to find an answer. My mediation practice includes disputes arising in estate planning and wealth transfer, family businesses and partnerships, executive employment, early stage ventures, and nonprofit governance. Disputes that cannot be litigated but must be resolved are another practice area of particular interest.
A diverse background in private and public sector law, in business, and in nonprofits is a great asset in understanding context and perspectives brought by parties to the mediation table. Having been both a plaintiff and a defendant is another valuable asset. My broad background includes: Senior advisor and counsel to a Cabinet officer and federal regulatory agency chair; co-founder of a groundbreaking financial services technology venture; and, solo practitioner active in estate planning and counseling small and young businesses.
