Description of Practice
Alec Grimsley is a leading expert in difficult conversations training, senior team facilitation and workplace mediation. His book "Vital Conversations" is published in October 2009.

A different approach to workplace mediation and difficult conversations?
Professional Background
Why Alec Grimsley?
Over a period of 8 years, 32 different organisations including 20 in the UK FTSE250 have consistently used his services. In the entire 8 year period there has never been a need to place an advert, run a marketing campaign, make a cold call or chop down trees to make a fancy brochure. Every single enquiry bar none has come from personal recommendation.
Experience
As mentioned in this profile Alec's approach is to reduce the need for mediation by reducing the opportunity for disputes by enhancing the difficult conversations skills of managers and business leaders. Even so there are times when he is asked to help with an intractable dipute. Currently Alec leads around 12 mediation based disputes a year.

A different approach to workplace mediation and difficult conversations?
Alec believes that if you give a man a fish you feed him for a day, but if you teach him how to fish he can feed himself for a lifetime. Even when he is asked to undertake a workplace mediation, Alec will encourage those involved to not just go through the mediation process but to undertake some 1 on 1 coaching/mentoring to reduce the chances of a future reoccurrence of the problem/behaviour either between the two disputing parties or with other people in your organisation.
