Leo Hura

Leo Hura, Mediator, (JD) Esq. (retired)

Leo Hura, Mediator, (JD) Esq. (Retired) produces videos for TV as well as for individuals and organizations from idea through post production. Leo has gained his video production experience through the production of over 50 videos for public access TV in Hawaii.
Production skills include writing of scripts, working with actors, conduct of interviews, video analysis, editing, and working in tough audio environments. Leo produces in HD and is rapidly developing expertise in uploading videos to the internet. Leo is currently working with Final Cut Pro and the .mov format for video production. Leo is quickly gaining experience in use of Motion for the development of graphics and imagery to enhance video presentations. Leo can develop videos ranging from 1 minute to those lasting 1 hour or a series of episodes or chapters.
Video analysis is offered as a means by which to take raw video and convert it to a video presentation which may include chapterization of video into topic areas, as Leo produced for the Hawaii Judiciary on Hawaii's Appeals Process. One reason offering this skills is important is because not every presentation, workshop, or forum is ready for use or airing - it may be too long, too repetitive, off topic in the wrong places and so applying video analysis can transform an activity into concise, interesting, and compelling video.
Leo is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy (BS), and Seton Hall Law School (JD).
Leo has availed himself of training opportunities in video production through public access TV Olelo Community Media, audited an audio course at University of Hawaii, and with hands on work in video production for his series Avoiding, Preventing, and Resolving Conflict and Specials by LH.
Leo's mediation experience has been primarily gained through Community Mediation and numerous mediation workshops and training events including workshops sponsored by Pepperdine.
In his pre-mediation life Leo was a capital project team leader at Merck handling some of the most difficult projects the manufacturing division faced and received a Chairman's Award for his work on a project to launch ophthalmic in Scandinavia. He led projects in France, acted as Senior Technical Advisor to Merck's subsidiary in Japan, and handled manufacturing issues as Licensee Coordinator for the Far East.
Leo is fluent in English and Ukrainian, communicates well Spanish, and understands Slovak and French.
Leo works out of Hawaii and is willing to travel to meet production needs. Leo's video capture is conducted using HD cameras for both video and audio and he uses hand held audio equipment either as back-up or as a primary source depending on the environment in which the video is being captured.
Post Production is handled using Apple's Final Cut Pro suite.
Leo plays competitive soccer in the "Masters Division" of Island Soccer, hikes, swims, snorkels, and just loves to keep physically fit.
