1. Articles:

Turning Around Polarized Mindsets in Workplace Mediations
By Jack A. Hamilton & Elisabeth Seaman
It is not uncommon for workers to respond to
dissimilar points of view by ascribing group labels
to what they hear, which results in co-workers
bearing the pain of being stereotyped and then
retaliating with accusations and blame of their
own.

emBODY-INg Conflict Resolution
By Beata Lewis and Ulla Glaesser
Life--with all the conflict and change it brings--
is a process of improvisation. For the most part,
conflict resolution is taught and even experienced
as a mind-based discipline. How can this be enhanced
by integrating learnings from other, more body-based
forms of improvisation? Since no learning is really
yours until it is in your body, then cognitive fluency
must become integrated into our being if we strive
for excellence and integrity in our lives. This article
shares reflections about an integrative approach
developed by Beata Lewis and Ulla Glaesser for
applying physical awareness and basic improvisational
skills to the disciplines of conflict resolution and
collaborative change.

An online anarchist circus?
The World Bank announced that its conference on
globalization and poverty, which was to have been
held in the Spanish city of Barcelona, would be held
online instead. Officially, the Bank was doing its bit
to bridge the digital divide by holding the conference
online. In reality, the World Bank was running scared
after the violent clashes between anti-globalization
protesters and police in Gothenburg, Sweden last
month during a European Union summit.

3. emBODY-INg Conflict Workshop

Integrate your physical experience and mental
awareness. Increase your effectiveness with
conflict and collaboration dynamics.
In this highly interactive workshop you will be
on your feet for at least 50% of the day,
integrating exercises in body awareness
and improvisational movement with practical
examples of conflict situations. You will then
translate what you first experience in your
body back into mental models and distinctions.

5. National Franchise Mediation Program

The NFMP was established in 1993 by an
ad hoc group of franchisors who sought a way
to resolve disputes between franchisors and
franchisees without the rancor and cost of litigation,
wherever possible. Its goal is to resolve such
conflicts fairly, amicably and cost-effectively.
The NFMP has been endorsed by both the
International Franchise Association and the
American Association of Franchisees & Dealers.
The Program is governed administered by the
CPR Institute for Dispute Resolution and is
governed by a Steering Committee comprising
equal numbers of franchisee and franchisor
representatives.

7.  Quotes:

"Most people's reasoning consists of finding
reasons for going on believing as they already do."
James Harvey Robinson

"Too often we hold fast to the cliches of our forebears.
We subject all facts to a prefabricated set of
interpretations. We enjoy the comfort of opinion
without the discomfort of thought...For the great
enemy of the truth is very often not the lie:
deliberate, contrived and dishonest.
But the myth: persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic."
John F. Kennedy

"Every fight is one between angles of vision,
illuminating the same truth."
Mahatma Gandhi
