Learning Objectives
By the end of the course, students will understand the costs and benefits of conflict and be able to analyze the impact of conflict on their organizations. Students will be familiar with a variety of approaches to resolving conflict and the range of options used in workplace conflict management systems. Students will understand the criteria for an effective conflict management system and the steps to develop an appropriate system for their organization. Students will also understand how to reduce the potential for violence and develop strategies to respond to violence in the workplace.

Course Description
Workplace conflict is inevitable. It provides an opportunity for constructive change and the potential for dispruptive and costly disputes. Managing conflict is a key function of human resource management and effective organizations have well planned strategies to analyze, prevent and resolve conflicts. This course will increase the ability of professionals to assess the dynamics of conflict in their organizations and design appropriate interventions in order to reduce the potential for violence and make conflict a force for positive change.

Duration and Cost
This workshop is presented to students at San Francisco State University as an advanced Human Resource Management class over four evening sessions of three hours. The cost is $210. It can also be presented over two days. For a single trainer we charge $1000 per day, and for two trainers $1500. These figures are negotiable and do not include travel costs.
