Eric van Ginkel, until recently Counsel to Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP, now has his own practice that focuses on all aspects of Alternative Dispute Resolution. Eric is the Assistant Director and an Adjunct Professor in Alternative Dispute Resolution at The Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University School of Law. He has lectured both in the Netherlands and in the United States on a variety of subjects, including mediation, arbitration, international investment disputes, mergers & acquisitions and intellectual property law.
Eric is a member of the Arbitration and Mediation Committees and a Senior Vice-Chair of the Intellectual Property and Entertainment Law Committee of the International Bar Association. He is also Chairman of the ADR Committee of the Business Law Section, and an Advisor to the International Law Section, of the Sate Bar of California. In addition, he is a member of the Los Angeles, Beverly Hills and Orange County Bar Associations, and the Los Angeles and Orange County chapters of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers, and the Federal Bar Association.
Eric can conduct mediation and arbitration proceedings in English, Dutch, French and German. He is reasonably proficient in Italian and Spanish so that he can converse in those languages and read Italian and Spanish documents.
