The Basic Mediation Training is a 40-Hour course that complies with the standards set by the Texas Mediation Trainers Roundtable and Chapter 154 of the Texas Civil Practices & Remedies Code. This is an introductory course for those interested in becoming volunteer and professional mediators. The skills developed are also transferable to any profession that deals with people. This course will benefit you, whether you are interested in becoming a mediator or improving your skills as a manager, human resource director, teacher, police officer, nurse, counselor, minister, clergy, or parent.
The course includes: historical context of conflict and mediation, dynamics and elements of conflict resolution and mediation, code of ethics and conduct for mediators, skill development, ground rules for mediation, cultural awareness and establishing trust, and practice conflict resolution and mediation through role play. Four hours of this course will include an outside assignment. The cost of materials is included in the course fees.
Approval for MCLE credits will be requested. LPC, LMFT, and LMSW, credits are available. TCLOSE credit for law enforcement will be submitted upon request.
Class size is limited. Please, register at least 30 days before the start date of each class.
