Thanks Laurie for the great article and timely reminder for all of us that work in this area - it is already a minefield in which prenups are often just another un-necessary mine which serve to linger below the surface leaving both parties uneasy.

For first marriages especially, this article is point-on. At a time of embrace of positive possibilities and trust, I agree that a pre-nup runs counter to the open-hearted spirit that encourages a loving, healthy marriage. What evolves in a relationship over the years is unpredictable and may reflect different values, not subject to qualifying or quantifying before the marital commitment is made!
