I find the summary of the study interesting, as I am a mediator in Tennessee. Since the survey was done in 1994, I wonder if a follow-up would show any different results. It is still good to be reminded that relationship preservation is one of the side benefits of mediation. We too often compare mediation to the court system, when in fact, few cases go to court. If business clients were reminded of this benefit, perhaps they would choose mediation sooner rather than later. It would save them a lot of legal fees and unnecessary stress.
